I’m so used up,
taken advantage of
A garbage can that is overflowing
with her innards, yarking out onto the pavement.
Passersby continue to lob their trash in me.
I am here for a reason,
I understand,
it seems like there is no appreciation from anyone.
Always dirty
holding on to other people’s rubbish,
the bad and icky trimmings that they no longer want
I thought I was critical in some way,
I mean, I’m a trash can right?
If I wasn’t here
the entire world would be one gigantic dump
Nobody wants to clean me or empty me
Nobody to take care of me,
I am there for them and all they do is toss their debris in me
I continue to sit out on your street,
in your parks and in your homes
collecting bits and pieces of the rotten leftovers of your lives
I am the invisible trash can.
